IP’s New Music Friday – June 24th, 2022

Welcome to an interesting new week of Infinite Purple’s New Music Friday recap where we sift through this week’s released tracks to bring you the songs that stand out!

Read all the way through or make your way to the bottom for the full Spotify playlist of our Friday discoveries.

BREAK MY SOUL – Beyoncé
Right when we needed her most, Beyoncé has returned with the new single from her upcoming project. The legendary singer and icon’s new song, “BREAK MY SOUL,” finds Bey’s always fierce, powerful, and confident vocals over a beat that you may vaguely recognize. Although pitched down a bit, this song samples classic Robyn S’s hit 1993 track “Show Me Love.” Take a moment to break from the world and be soothed by the one and only Beyoncé.

Talkin’ Drums – Melé & Touré Kunda
UK house artist, Melé, is back with a brand new track after the hit success of his song you may know him by “Groove La Afrika.” With some super funky drums, lively horns, and a fun vocal, Melé’s new track “Talkin’ Drums,” is definitely one to check out and play on your next dancefloor.

Cracker Island – Gorillaz (ft. Thundercat)
For their first release this year, acclaimed virtual band Gorillaz have teamed up with bass & music virtuoso Thundercat for a brand new track. Their new song, “Cracker Island,” is a pounding, funky groove that brings the Gorillaz classic song along with the funky grooves & dreamy backup singing of Thundercat. Definitely check this song out and keep your ears open for more music from the two artists.

Soy Gitano – Paco Versailles
Electronic flamenco duo, Paco Versailles, has gifted us a brand new song to help start off summer. The new track, “Soy Gitano,” brings their iconic dance sound that we’ve grown to love with some nice, laid back guitar, and soothing vocals. Play this on your next summer walk or bike ride.

Keep On – A-Trak
For those who don’t know the legend A-Trak he is a killer DJ and producer who won a world DJ scratch competition at the age of 15 and was touring with Kanye West for his Graduation album. Even though his early days started off with Hip-Hop/Rap he has transitioned more into making house music that often has hip-hop feel to it like this track. This track is great for casually listening or played at a party or club setting.

Drum Beat – AMÉMÉ
AMÉME is a celebrated up and coming Afro house and tech DJ and Producer who delivers an electric energy live and in his own music. We love the way the drums and vocals sound so well together and the raw and authentic sound of the drum in this track. If you’re looking to dive deeper into Afro Tech and house, we suggest you check out more of AMÉME’s music.

Album Give Or Take – Giveon
Giveon has created a sound that is unique and powerful in part due to his remarkable baritone voice that captures hearts. Most of you probably already know his hit song, “For Tonight,” which graces this album, but there is a whole slew of incredible songs on Give Or Take. With 15 tracks, this album is definitely worth a full listen through. Some of our favorites are “This Will Do,” “Lost Me,” & “Lie Again.”

Album The Less I Knew – James Vincent McMorrow
Irish singer/songwriter, James Vincent McMorrow, has been putting out soulful indie folk music since his popular albums Post Tropical in 2013 & We Move in 2015. His new album shows that he still has a knack for making the heartfelt music he’s known for. Some of our favorite songs from The Less I Knew are “Hurricane,” “Heads Look Like Drums,” & “Lighten Up.”
