IP’s New Music Friday – October 23, 2020

Welcome to another week of Infinite Purple’s New Music Friday recap where we sift through this week’s new tracks to bring you the songs that stand out!

Read all the way through or make your way to the bottom for the full Spotify playlist of our Friday discoveries.

Change Your Mind – Miloe
19-year old indie pop/folk newcomer, Miloe, has an extremely bright future ahead of him. Originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo and since living in Minneapolis, Miloe creates an instantly recognizable sound that is familiar and new at the same time. “Change Your Mind,” the title track off his newest 3-track EP (which is actually leading to a larger EP next week) brings soothing guitar riffs matched with Miloe’s soothing voice to produce a vibed out, laid back track. Don’t forget to check out the rest of his EP featured in the blog below (Winona is one of our favorite tracks of the year.)

Gemini – Paco Versailles
Paco Versailles always brings the feel-good indie vibes and Gemini is definitely one of the squads’ new favorites. The drums are upbeat, leading the track from feel-good vocal breakdowns to funky bass guitar dance sections. This one will make any drive or beach day the just the vibe you’re looking for!

Damage – H.E.R.
H.E.R. is an R&B queen and has been delivering us quality tracks consistently over the last few years. As one of the most impressive R&B songwriters of the modern era, she knows exactly how to create a vibe and this track is that for sure. Turn this one on and lay back to the sweet voice of H.E.R.

Straight To The Morning – Hot Chip
Hot Chip’s been bringing us fun electronic rock music since the early 2000s and are still producing funky, fun dance tracks that incorporate awesome synths and vocal effects. “Straight To The Morning” is a fun and exciting track that will hype you up and is perfect for a workout, bike ride, or a nice afternoon dance party.

Come Away – Nora En Pure
If you know IP, you know we love some Nora. Teaming up with Australian artist Tim Morrison, this track is a cinematic and synth-heavy release through Enormous tunes. As always, Nora En Pure brings her classic sound of piano chords and drawn out strings, but this time with a more vocal-forward mix that we are loving!

So Hooked On Your Lovin (Gorgon City Remix) – Selace
Remix’s of “So Hooked On Your Lovin,” as well as the original, have been floating around for a couple of years now, with Mousse T.’s remix being an absolute Defected Records anthem. Here British house duo, Gorgon City, brings us a club-ready remix of the grooving track. This remix brings you straight to the dance floor with some heavy bass and drums but carries a more airy and blissful atmosphere compared to other remixes.

Sax In The City – King Arthur & Dot N Life
There is just something so sexy and soothing about the saxophone, and when the perfect house beat is laid underneath something magical happens. Sax in the City is that track, and more!

Drowning In Your Love (Mark Knight Remix) – Mason (ft. Jem Cooke)
“Drowning In Your Love” is such a fun disco track that we did not know needed to be remixed until Mark Knight stepped up to the plate. This one has a fast and funky bass line that pushes the vocal through the roof, making any listener feel the urge to move!

EP Change Your Mind – Miloe (cont.)
Don’t need to say too much since you’ve already heard the first track off this EP and it is very, very good. The other two tracks are just as good. “Winona” is already one of our favorite tracks of the year with its fun guitar riffs and awesome synths. It almost feels nostalgic like 90s rock pop. The final track “Everything (That Should Go)” is more laid back than the other two. It’s relaxing, emotional, and creates quite a laid back vibe. Needless to say, Miloe is one to keep an eye on!

Album After Thoughts – Kaelin Ellis
Kaelin Ellis has been producing music for many years now, although you may still not have heard his name. Formerly known as Mr. Mockwell, he’s collaborated with artists like Lupe Fiasco, Kaytranada, Sango, and more. His new album, After Thoughts, is a instrumental musical journey that will make you feel like you’re moving through a jazzy, funky, hip-hop masterclass. Some of our favorite tracks from the album are “Home,” “Clarity,” & “Livin’.”
